DVD-sniffing dogs find 50,000 more pirate discs

DVD dogs (AP)

You have to wonder if these movies really stunk!

A team of crime-fighting Labrador retrievers on loan from the Motion Picture Assoc. of America found sniffed out 50,000 pirated DVDs in a shipment in Malaysian customs.

Good boy! Good girl!

This marks the third successful raid for the crime-fighting, butt-sniffing duo, who have already found over $2.5 million in pirated discs.

The MPAA alleges that they lost just over a billion dollars in sales to pirated movies, according to the AP article.

The dogs are so effective at tracking the DVDs by the smell of chemicals used in making them, there is allegedly a bounty on their cute, furry heads by the pirate-DVD industry. Arrrr!

You can’t make this stuff up! Classic!

I wonder if the dogs talk smack about the MPAA on their lunch break:

Lucky: “This sure is a stupid waste of money.”
Flo: “Hey, did you see Beethoven’s 4th? The movie industry needs all the help it can get.”
Lucky: lol “Yeah, what about Air Bud, Bingo, and the live-action 101 Dalmations–makes me wanna lick myself.”
