The best one-star food review EVER!

March 1, 2007

I troll the New York Times’ “most-read” stories list for blog post ideas, and this one takes the cake. Or actually, the steak .. Strip steak.

steakNoted food critic Frank Bruni stopped by Robert’s Steakhouse, which just happens to be located inside the sprawling complex of the Penthouse Executive Club on the Far West Side of Manhattan.

Yes, THAT Penthouse. The adult magazine. So I imagine that you can guess what happens there…

Reading this review (which does have it’s PG moments…kids beware), I just have to give kudos to Bruni for keeping the article tasteful. It would be easy to go astray considering the environment.

The one-liners and the chats with the “service” at the restaurant are also laugh-out-loud funny. Man, that guy is sure dedicated to search for a good steak in that sort of establishment. Way to take one for the team, Frank!

To read more (and see the also-tasteful pictures by Robert Presutti, full of the requisite neon lighting you’d expect), visit the article at here.

By the way, you have NO IDEA how hard it was to illustrate this post tastefully … hehe…

Yes, Corey, I thought it was kinda weird too that after his rave, he only gave it one star. But maybe the scenery jangled his arithmetical abilities? I analyze this in a little more depth on my own blog (natch)…good picture you have there of the steak…
