Cirque de Vista: Microsoft’s NYC debut

January 25, 2007

Ina Fried of CNET reports that Microsoft will hold a “human performance” on a billboard in New York City at 9 a.m. Monday to herald the debut of Windows Vista.

A “human performance” for a machine’s operating system? Irony, anyone?

Why don’t we just sacrifice something to the billboard to please it, like the Aztecs did? (I vote Britney Spears!)  Oh please, gods of the blue screen of death…do not be angry with my wife’s Mac OS X use…

crashFrom the report:

The Cirque du Soleil-style performance will take place at 9 a.m. Monday at the Terminal Building.

“It’s a billboard. It’s marketing, except that it’s made by people,” Mike Sievert, corporate VP for Windows told CNET News.com late Wednesday.

Among those on hand for the marketing stunt will be around 80 families that extensively tested Vista.

The performance will kick off two days of activities in New York as the software maker touts its first consumer Windows release in five years as well as the launch of Office 2007.

CNET also reviews Vista, giving it a 7.8 out of 10. I’ll be writing up my review of Windows Vista in a week or two.

I had a chance to play with a RC build of the new OS while at the Podcast and Portable Media Expo in September, and it looked very clean and crisp.

Whether my current home tower can handle it is another story… and I’m concerned about home-use DRM clashes. Holding my breath…

300 is a great movie full of visual effects and graphics which made it different and much better.
Acting was great, director did a wonderful job and chose great actors, full of action, and it is based on a true story.
