Britney Spears’ watch Day 7: Paris Hilton, ethics expert

December 12, 2006

You know you want it. Here’s the latest raw, naked news happenings from the “axis of evil” — Britney Spears, Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan, in our continuing Britney Spears’ watch vigil.

How long it continues is entirely up to you, the blog-reading, Britney-watching public.Paris Hilton at the AMA awards (AP) (Miss a segment? Parts one, two, three, four, five and six available in perpetuity. Or snag my RSS feed here for updates.)

My apologies, as this is an abbreviated edition. I’m still busy working on a special online project (not Spears related) for my newspaper, the Lancaster New Era. I’ll have more information about it here later this week.

Hotel heiress and party machine Paris Hilton told the millions of MySpace users that call her a “friend” that Britney’s recent party attitude was nothing to be ashamed of.

Super gossiper Jeanette Walls at MSNBC has the scoop (lines of note in bold):

“Lately, you’ve been seeing pics of me and Britney partying (blah blah) [sic] and she knows that some of her fans are very upset about what they call her ‘behavior’ and sadly they’re blaming the issue on her being friends with me,” Hilton wrote. “For people to call out her parenting skills on behalf of her partying ethics is appalling. Britney loves her kids to death, and I know for a fact that it truly hurts her when she sees these cruel things being written about her. She goes home every night to her babies and partying has not come in the way of her parenting.

“Anyone who has called her out on this should really be ashamed,” Hilton admonishes. “There are thousands of mothers out there who like to go out and have a good time. But, you do not see people out there calling them ‘bad parents.’ She’s young, and if she wants to go out and have some fun, let her. Just because she does these things does not mean she doesn’t care about her children. For the sake of Britney and her kids, be kind. Love, Paris”

Well, a few comments come to mind on Paris’ screed:

  1. That’s a better letter than anything Lindsay Lohan has produced as of late (examples here and here). Good on you Paris.
  2. What exactly are “party ethics?” Britney’s recent rash of crotch-baring photos seems to show she is lacking in any ethical category (or at least, lacking in decency).
  3. Reports have told that Britney has not returned home to her children every night after partying. Reporters have seen her staying at L.A. and Hollywood hotels, while her kids are being cared for by whom? Brit’s mom? A nanny? It’s no wonder that L.A. child services wanted a talk with the pop star. Paris, I know you want kids, but you’re either home with them, or you’re partying at the clubs — you can’t be in both places at the same time! Neither can Ms. Spears.

So I ask you blogosphere … what exactly are “party ethics?”

Much like the “man law” commercials for Miller Lite, I think we should create the Britney Spears’ party ethics bible.

Please comment to this post with your best “Thou shalt” or “Thou shalt not” rules of ethics for Britney Spears/Paris Hilton partying/clubbing/drinking/pole dancing and I will feature the best ones in a future “crotch watch” update.
