UPDATE: Kerry carryover post-apology

November 2, 2006

Looks like our troops in Iraq have been reading the news on the Internet of Sen. John Kerry’s (D-MA) “failed joke.

A picture (above) and story from the NY Post tell of soldiers from the Minnesota National Guard that wanted to make their opinions known.

Kerry did eventually issue an apology for his “stuck in Iraq” comments, blaming them on a failed joke attempt. This after he swore he’d never apologize for his comments.

He’s waffled again! CBS chronicles Kerry’s top 10 flip-flops.

Now, the AP jumps on the Kerry anti-war bandwagon, uncovering comments he made in 1972 at an anti-Vietnam rally that mirror his comments from Tuesday:

“I am convinced a volunteer army would be an army of the poor and the black and the brown,” Kerry wrote. “We must not repeat the travesty of the inequities present during Vietnam. I also fear having a professional army that views the perpetuation of war crimes as simply ‘doing its job.’

Seriously, can you imagine campaigns and politics without the Internet anymore? This stuff spreads like wildfire thanks to blogs and the 24/7 media newsrooms.
